Privacy policy

NearPlug (“we”, “us”) runs a WhatsApp-based marketplace that connects electric-vehicle drivers with people who host private charging points. This policy explains what personal data we process when you use NearPlug on WhatsApp or visit nearplug.in, why, and your rights under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Data we collect
- WhatsApp details: your phone number, WhatsApp profile name and the messages, button taps and locations you send to NearPlug.
- Drivers: your vehicle registration number and the vehicle details returned by the government RC database (owner name, vehicle class, model, fuel type), used to confirm the vehicle is electric.
- Hosts: your name, optional email, the charger’s address, map location, landmark and gate instructions, and your UPI ID for payouts. Your PAN is passed directly to our payment partner for mandatory KYC and is not stored by NearPlug.
- Bookings and payments: booking times, the spot, the amount paid, payment and refund references and status. Card and UPI details are handled by our payment partner and never reach us.
How we use it
- To find nearby spots, create bookings, send confirmations, OTPs and reminders.
- To collect payments, pay hosts and issue refunds.
- To verify vehicles and spots, prevent fraud and resolve disputes (we keep an audit trail of each booking).
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
- The other party to your booking: drivers see the spot’s location and gate instructions after the host accepts; hosts see the driver’s vehicle model and registration number.
- Service providers: Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform) to deliver messages; our payment partner (Razorpay) to process payments, payouts and refunds; a vehicle-RC verification provider; and our cloud hosting provider.
- Authorities, when required by law.
Retention
We keep your data while you use NearPlug. Booking and payment records are kept for as long as Indian tax and payment regulations require. Conversation state (such as a half-finished registration) is deleted automatically within 30 minutes of inactivity.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, or withdraw consent, by following the steps on our data deletion page or writing to info@aflatus.com. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, webhooks from WhatsApp and our payment partner are signature-verified, and access to production systems is restricted.
